 GUWAHATI, July 1 – The All Guwahati Children Chess Championship is under way in full swing at the Dr Bhabendranath Saikia Children Trust here. Altogther 57 students from Guwahati are prticipating in this 7-round Swiss event.

The first day of this three-day event proved to be smooth sailing for all the top seeds except 2nd seeded Natasha Dutta who was defeated by unseeded Ravikant Tiwari. Intense competion was witnessed on the 2nd day of the event with the top seeded player Kaustav Kashyap Das being defeated in a keenly contested match by Ravikant Tiwari who proved to be a giant killer in this event.

Earlier, Kaustav was held to a draw by 8th seeded fide rated Priyambada Dutta. After end of round 6, Ravikant Tiwari is in sole lead on 5.5 points while Debanga K Bhattacharyya, Suraj Dey and Nitish Das are in the 2nd place with 5 points each.
