Water levels of rivers falling in Sivasagar district

 SIVASAGAR, June 30 - In Sivasagar district, 34 villages under Sivasagar and Demow revenue circles have been largely affected by the flood.

 However, water levels of the Brahmaputra and all its tributaries in the district are falling in the last 24 hours, stated the report of the Water Resources department.

Floodwaters have submerged 2,705 hectares of land, besides 240 hectares of crop land, affecting a total of 22,784 people and more than 20,000 animals.

The district administration has set up 26 relief distribution centres earlier and currently, only two relief centres are in operation in Demow. The flood has damaged 12 school buildings partially.
