Flood affects 1.17 lakh people in Nalbari district

 NALBARI, June 30 - The current wave of flood has adversely affected 1.17 lakh people in Nalbari district so far.

Floods caused by the Brahmaputra, Pagladia, Mara Pagladia and Nona rivers submerged more than 117 villages under seven revenue circles of Tihu, Paschim Nalbari, Nalbari, Banekuchi, Barbhag, Ghograpar and Barkshetri.

The Barkshetri revenue circle is worst affected as the swollen waters of the Brahmaputra inundated 37 villages, including the entire char areas. It was followed by Barbhag revenue circle where 33 villages are still reeling under floodwater.

A total of 39 villages under Tihu and Paschim Nalbari revenue circles have been affected due to the current wave of flood. Several villages under Banekuchi and Ghograpar circles of the district have been submerged.

In the char areas, people are taking shelter at safer places.

Meanwhile, the district administration deployed medical teams in the flood-affected areas of Barkshetri and Paschim Nalbari revenue circles.
