|Pramila lays foundation stones of model village, India Gate|
KOKRAJHAR. Jan 30 - State Social welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma laid the foundation stones of the Model Village road and India Gate at Saralpara in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. Both the schemes will be implemented at a cost of Rs 8.52 crore and Rs 2.22 crore under Border Area Development programme (SCS) respectively.

During the programme, the minister said that her main objective is to turn Saralpara into a model village as the people in the locality have been facing many problems, including shortage of potable drinking water, higher education, health care facilities, housing etc. “With the implementation of these projects, now it would become easier to construct health centres, roads, school buildings, playgrounds etc.,” she added.
She further hoped that the India Gate which will be constructed near Indo-Bhutan border at Naharani area of Saralpara will attract tourists besides improving bilateral trade between Assam and Bhutan.
The programme was attended by Bhaskar Das, Addl Deputy Commissioner, Jagamahan Basumatary, Addl Chief Engineer and Council HoD, PWD, BTC, Rajesh Kr Singh, Assistant Commandant, SSB, Saralpara and other dignitaries.
