Manipur to host canoeing sprint

 IMPHAL, Jan 28 – Manipur to host the 23rd National Canoe Sprint Championship from January 30. Some of the participants out of the 700 canoe and kayaking players have already arrived here. Levelling of the newly shaped water sports complex at Komlakhong located on the bank of Loktak lake are on a war footing. Manipur’s Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar , who is the organizing chairman of the championship, has been monitoring the ground work preparation in association with All Manipur Canoeing and Kayaking Association.

Balbir Singh Khuswaha, secretary general of National Canoeing and Kayaking Association said that around 700 players representing not less than 27 or 28 teams across the States including 250 officials will be taking part in the championship. Only Assam and Manipur will be taking part from the North-east.
