City, Navarang in T20 final

 GUWAHATI, Jan 28 – City Cricket Club set up title clash with host Navarang Club in the Nilimoy Choudhury Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament.

In two semifinals played at the Judges’ Field here today, City CC trounced Navajyoti Club by 8 wickets while Navarang Club prevailed over Maharana Athletic Club by 69 runs.

The day’s first match was played between Navajyoti and City where Navajyoti managed to score a fighting total of 156 for the loss of 6 wickets. Veteran Parag Das top scored with 66.

In reply, City hit up 157 losing just two wickets in 17.5 overs. Romario Sharma (46), Sunil Ranjan Gogoi (42) and Amzad Ali (39) offered healthy contribution to the City total.

Navarang, riding on 62 by Neeraj Tiwari, reached a commendable total of 160 and bundled Maharana for 91.

Brief scores: Navajyoti 156/6 (Parag Das 66, Arminder Singh Oberoi 20, Chandandeep Das 2/20). City CC 157/2 (Romario Sharma 46 n.o, Sunil Ranjan Gogoi 42, Amzad Ali 39).

Navarang 160/6 (Neeraj Tiwari 62, Jnan Boro 23, Utpal Medhi 20, Azahar Ali 2/26). Maharana 91 (Sahnawaz Ahmed 21, Utpal Gayari 20, Neeraj Tiwari 3/13, Roshan Basfor 2/20).
