Navajyoti set up title clash with Bud

 GUWAHATI, Jan 25 – Riding on a superb 99-ball 103 by veteran Parag Das, Navajyoti Club posted a 84-run victory against City Cricket Club in the second semifinal of the Jugal Kishore Newatia Memorial 12th Bud Challenge Cricket Championship.

 Now Navajyoti will play against hosts Bud Cricket Club (Blue) in the summit clash tomorrow.

Being asked to bat first, Navajyoti smacked a mammoth 251 for seven in 40 overs.

Apart from Parag, Hrishikesh Tamuly (41) and Sanzow Brahma (39) had a major share in the Navajyoti total. Sohail Rehman was the leading wicket-taker for City with a four-wicket haul.

City batsmen failed to chase the big target and were restricted to 167 for nine. Romario Sharma (51), Manasjyoti Gogoi (30) and Chanta Kishore (21) put up some resistance but other batsmen failed miserably.

Spinner Bikash Chetri was the chief-wrecker removing four City CC scalps.

Brief scores: Navajyoti 251/7 (Parag Das 103, Hrishikesh Tamuly 41, Sanzaw Brahma 39, Hohail Rehman 4/52). City CC 167/9 (Romario Sharma 57, Manashjyoti Gogoi 30, Chanta Kishore Das 21, Bikash Chetri 4/25, Abhinab Konwar 2/59).
