Misbehaviour with lady IPS officer condemned

 IMPHAL, Jan 21 - The IPS Association, Manipur Chapter, in an emergency meeting, condemned the alleged harassment and misbehaviour meted out to a lady IPS officer of Manipur Police at the Khudengthabi check- post on the Imphal-Moreh highway in Tengnoupal district by 12 Assam Rifles personnel on January 19, a press release stated.

“The association expects the Assam Rifles to cooperate with the police investigation over the incident and also ensure speedy action in the Assam Rifles’ internal disciplinary proceedings,” added the press release issued by the president and the secretary of the IPS Association, Manipur Chapter, on Monday.

According to news reports, a lady IPS officer and her escort party were allegedly detained, harassed and assaulted by a rifleman, PK Pandey, of D-Company, 12 Assam Rifles, at the Khudengthabi check-post on the Imphal-Moreh highway while they were returning after duty from the border town of Moreh, located 110 km south of Imphal, on Sunday.
