GUWAHATI, Jan 21 - The Kamrup (M) district administration will make special arrangement this time for the differently-abled persons at the playground of College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara during the Republic Day celebrations.
Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, while addressing a press conference here today, informed that his office has already written to the district social welfare department to arrange a sufficient number of wheel-chairs and other facilities for the differently-abled persons who will come to join the Republic Day celebrations.
This time, the march-past on the Republic Day at the Khanapara field will be led by the team of Assam Rifles from Meghalaya. There will be also separate prizes for students taking part in the march-past.
“We have already made all kinds of arrangements to observe Republic Day. The Khanapara field has been under the strict surveillance of police administration for the past one month. To ensure full-proof security, a sufficient number of closed-circuit cameras has been put up in all strategic locations,” Pegu said.
As part of the celebrations, artistes from the Cultural Affairs department will perform various activities on that day. The district administration also directed all schools to conduct quiz and debate competitions among students as part of the celebrations.
