Correspondent DHEMAJI, Jan 21 - Dhemaji district in North Assam recorded overall 72 per cent voter turnout in the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) election, while it recorded 66 per cent in Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC), which ended at 3 pm this afternoon.

Dhemaji subdivision, which conducted the Council election in 9 MACs (one adjourned) and 4 SKAC constituencies, recorded 71.70 per cent for MAC and 58.90 per cent for SKAC, while Jonai subdivision recorded 73 per cent for MAC and 74.45 per cent for SKAC.
The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Returning Officer of Dhemaji by an order adjourned election in No. 10 Akajan MAC constituency which falls under Dhemaji Sadar subdivision’s jurisdiction.
The Jonai subdivisional administration conducted the council elections in six MAC constituencies besides the single SKAC (Jonai) seat.
The lone candidate, who filed nomination paper from No. 6 Samjari Nigir MAC (ST) constituency in Jonai subdivision, has already been declared unopposed. Polling ended peacefully.
