|Villagers help to repair Vijaynagar ALG|
ITANAGAR, Jan 21 - Residents of 11 villages in Vijaynagar area in Arunachal Pradesh have come forward as volunteers to help the Air Force authorities to undertake repairing of the Vijaynagar Advanced Landing Ground (ALG), which has not been in operational mode for the last three years.
Located at a remote corner in Arunachal Pradesh, Vijaynagar is not connected by any motorable road. The ALG has not been fit for operations by any fixed wing aircraft since 2016, stated a defence official here.
“People from 11 villages of Vijaynagar area volunteered to help the Air Force authorities to undertake this task by carrying out shramdaan,” said the official.
The Indian Air Force has taken up a project to repair the ALG to make it operation worthy. For the repairs, all the material and manpower have to be airlifted to Vijaynagar. The repair works involve cleaning of the runway.
