|30 Rohingya held in Churaibari|
SILCHAR, Jan 22: In a major development, as many as 30 Rohingya nationals including 12 minors and nine women were arrested by police at the Assam-Tripura border on Monday night. They were travelling to Guwahati on a bus from Agartala.
Additional SP (Headquarters) Karimganj Inom Saikia told The Assam Tribune on Tuesday that the Rohingya nationals were held during a routine checkup at Churaibari.
"During routine interrogation at the checkpost, these Rohingyas were found without valid documents. They have violated the Passport Act hence steps would be taken accordingly. Further investigation is in progress," Saikia informed.
