Govt forces urged not to torture innocent Bodos
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Jan 21 – The Hindu Yuba Chattra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) has called upon the forces – deployed under ‘Operation all-out’ to nab the NDFB(S) terrorists allegedly involved in the recent barbaric killings in Sonitpur, Chirang, Udalguri and Kokrajhar districts – to immediately halt the alleged torture of innocent Bodo people in the name of ‘Operation all-out’.

Comparing the torture and harassment of the innocent Bodo people by the army and para-military forces with that of the inhuman operations carried out against the people during the Assam Agitation time in North Kamrup, the HYCPA urged all concerned to refrain from harassing the innocent, lest it will carry a bad name to the State forces, besides giving rise to anti-national elements and secessionist tendancies.

The Parishad said that the Bodos, besides being the sons of the soil, are a favourite among the greater Assamese society and an integral part of Indian nationalism.

Saying that the government which did not act tough enough against the attacks on Bodos by suspected allies for vote-bank politics, the Parishad asked the earlier government to refrain from axing its own heart in the name of nabbing terrorists.
