MAC, SKAC polls today

 NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Jan 20 - Polling personnel left for 149 polling stations today to conduct election to the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC) elections in Lakhimpur district tomorrow. The polling personnel left for their polling stations by collecting polling materials from the issue counters set up by the district election office at the B-Team playground of North Lakhimpur Govt HS School this morning.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the polls in which a total of 78,217 voters including 39,868 males and 38,349 females will exercise their franchise in the MAC election in five constituencies under North Lakhimpur Election district which includes No. 18 Bhimpara Boginadi, No. 19 Ghunasuti Pub Telahi, No. 23 Luit Pachim, No. 24 Ranganadi and No. 25 Dikrong. A total number of 120 polling stations have set up for MAC polls, out of which 58 polling stations have been identified as very sensitive, 43 as sensitive and 19 as comparatively sensitive. Ten zonal officers and 32 sector officers have been appointed for the MAC constituencies. There are 18 candidates contesting the MAC polls in Lakhimpur.

For the SKAC polls there are 9,851 voters which include 7,136 males and 4,715 females. The district has two constituencies for this poll which are No. 21 Telahi and No. 2 Boginadi constituencies. Twenty nine polling stations have been set up of which five are marked as very sensitive, 13 as sensitive and 11 as comparatively sensitive. Six zonal officers and seven sector officers have been entrusted for the SKAC constituencies.
