SENAPATI, Jan 20 - Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has rescheduled the date for the next round of ‘tripartite talk’ on district creation in Manipur to January 28. According to the notice issued to United Naga Council (UNC) by the MHA, the latter has decided to reschedule the talk following a request from Manipur Government.
Earlier, the next round of tripartite talk was fixed for January 25.
This January 28 talk will be the first round of tripartite talk on the issue with the new team of UNC headed by S Kho John. The last round of talk was held on September 1, 2018 in Senapati district headquarters.
The previous Government of Manipur had created seven new districts on December 8, 2016. In protest against that act of the Manipur Government, the UNC had imposed 139 days of economic blockade along the National Highways passing through the State. After the lifting of the blockade, the first round of talk was held on March 19, 2017, followed by several rounds of talk.
