NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Jan 20 – The Lakhimpur district administration is gearing up for the civic polls to be held on February 10 along with the rest of the State.
The district will have municipal elections for North Lakhimpur and Bihpuria while Narayanpur and Dhakuwakhona will have polls for town committees, stated a district administration press release.
The nomination papers of candidates are being received with effect from January 19 and the process will continue up to January 28. Scrutiny of the nominations will be held on January 30 and the names of contesting candidates will be declared on the same day, the release said.
The date for withdrawal of candidature is fixed on February 2 and the final list of the contesting candidates will be declared on the same day.
The polling will take place on February 10, while February 12 has been is fixed for repolling. The counting of votes will take place on February 13, the press release added.
Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur district election authority has released the final revised electoral rolls of voters who had become eligible to enlist their names on January 1, 2014, according to the Election Registration Act, 1960.
The electoral rolls of 111 Lakhimpur LAC, 110 Nowboicha LAC and 109 Bihpuria LAC have been kept ready for public viewing in the district election registration authority office and concerned officials of every polling centre of these three LAC areas of the district.
