ATTSA demands security to life

 GUWAHATI, Jan 20 – Members of the Assam Tea Tribes’ Students’ Association (ATTSA) staged a sit-in demonstration on the bank of the Dighalipukhuri here today in support of their demand for providing security to the life and property of the Adivasis of the State.

The ATTSA members also demanded ‘constitutional rights’ to the State’s Adivasis and steps to eliminate all militant organisations of the State. They also demanded a Government job to the family members of each of those killed in the incident of December 23, 2014 attack on the Adivasi families by the militants of the Sangbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S).

In a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister of the State, they also demanded steps to rehabilitate with adequate compensation, the Adivasi families affected by the December 23, 2014 attack of the Sangbijt faction of the NDFB-S.

They demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the kin of each of those killed in the attack of the NDHB (S) militants and Rs 10 lakh to each of those who sustained injuries in those incidents of militant attack.

They demanded steps to trace out those who have become traceless following the NDFB (S) attack.

Besides, the Government should also assume all responsibilities of those children who have lost their fathers in the December 23, 2014 attack till they attain the age of 18 years.

Santhal Students’ Union: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today assured a delegation of the Santhal Students’ Union steps to take proper steps to meet the demands raised by the students’ body.

The demands raised by the students’ body were connected with the issues concerning rehabilitation of those families affected by the December 23, 2014 incident of militant attack, employment of teachers to impart lessons on Santhal language and recruitment of the Santhal youths in Government departments, among others.
