Resentment: Non-payment of salary since the last five months to the contractual employees of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Bongaigaon Division, has caused serious concern among the employees working at various places under the division.

The employees expected to receive their salaries before Magh Bihu, but as they did not receive payment, as a result they had to pass the Bhogali Bihu sans any festivity. Some among them have even failed to purchase books for their school-going children, thereby causing great concern.

There are about 170 such contractual employees under the division and the authority concerned has till date turned a deaf ear to their repeated pleas for release of pending salaries. However, the aggrieved employees have again demanded immediate release of their salaries without further delay.
