JORHAT, Jan 19 - Apprehending breach of peace and tranquility, and danger to human life and property, the District Magistrate here has imposed Section 144 Cr PC in the entire district.
An order issued on Friday by the District Magistrate stated that assembly of five or more persons with the common objective of picketing or taking out procession, training in public places by way of drills, training in lathis, weapons; carrying or possession of explosives or any lethal weapons, have been prohibited.
The order further stated that publishing and display of objectionable posters, placards, burning of effigies, etc., in public places, pasting of posters and writing on Government or private buildings/walls, bursting of crackers in moving vehicles or throwing crackers at vehicles, collection of subscription, donation, etc., by any person, group of persons, organisations too have been prohibited.
Wearing full mask helmets, use of tinted glass in vehicles, construction of any structure as swahid bedis in Government or public places too have been banned, the order stated.
The order mentioned that the aforementioned prohibition will not be applicable to Army, CRPF personnel in uniform, policemen and Government employees on duty, in weekly markets, bus stands, cinema halls, educational institutions, etc.
The order came into effect immediately and will remain in force until further order, the District Magistrate said.
Army recruitment rally: Meanwhile, the Army will organise a recruitment rally at its Mariani camp within the district from March 2 to 9 next.
A Jorhat district administration press note issued on Friday stated that the rally, to be held for filling up vacancies in different categories of posts in the Army, will be for candidates of Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Karbi Anglong and Charaideo districts.
