SILCHAR, Jan 18 - For the fifth consecutive year, Dainik Jugasankha Group clinched the Media cricket tournament organised by Barak Upatyaka Krira Sangbadik Sangstha (BUKSS).

In the final match on Wednesday, Dainik Jugasankha thrashed arch rivals Barak Valley Electronic Media Association (BVEMA) handsomely by 8 wickets with 10 overs to spare.

Batting first after winning the toss at the Silchar Football Academy, team BVEMA were bundled out for 99 runs without playing their full quota of 20 overs. Pacer Subhadeep Dutta scalped four wickets while Binit Nath and Rajesh Das picked 2 wickets each.

In reply, Dainik Jugasankha reached the target banking on the power packed unbeaten innings by wicketkeeper batsman Satyajit Suklabaidya. Satyajit scored 51 runs and played some sparkling shots. After a disappointing start losing opener Manoj Das in the second over, Amalava Das also gave him good support to build the innings. However, Amalava could not see his side through to victory. Bedabrata Bannerjee occupied the crease with Satyajit to drive home the win.

Subhadeep was the Man of the Match while Satyajit was adjudged the Man of the Tournament. Aniruddha Das Laskar of BVEMA was named the Best Batsman of the tournament.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner S Viswanathan was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. DSA secretary Babul Hore, Nilotpal Choudhury and Taimur Raja Choudhury, advisors to BUKSS also attended the closing ceremony.
