Park on Kharghuli riverbank soon
CITY CORRESPONDENT
GUWAHATI, Jan 14 - Guwahati city will soon have a park on the riverbank at Kharghuli opposite Justice Colony.

The park will be developed by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) with an investment of Rs 48,60,000. GMC Chief Engineer Debajit Das said bids for construction of the park have been invited.

“We have invited bids from the registered GMC contractors. Construction work of the park which will spread over six bighas, is likely to start in February. Three months is the estimated time period for completion of the park,” Das said.

“We have come up with the plan mainly focusing on children. There are more parks coming up in the city. With the city growing at a fast pace, the need for free space for parks and playing ground is increasing. Since finding huge space is an issue, small parks can provide at least some relief. Recreational facilities for children will be placed in the park,” Das added.
