Foundation of veterinary hospital building laid

 GAURIPUR, Jan 12 - Ashok Kumar Singhi, MLA of Bilasipara East Constituency laid the foundation stone of a new building of the oldest veterinary hospital of Dhubri district recently at Ayerjhar near Chapar.

Out of Rs 17 lakh sanctioned by NABARD, the residence of the doctor will be constructed at a cost of Rs 14.59 lakh. A two-storied building will also be constructed for the employees of the hospital at Rs 49.98 lakh, stated Dr D Gogoi, District Veterinary Officer.

The foundation-laying ceremony was anchored by Dr D Gogoi and attended by Rohan Kumar Jha, Civil SDO of Bilasipara, Nabajit Pathak, CO of Chapar, DIPRO Bikash Sharma and a few other dignitaries.

It may be mentioned here that the Ayerjhar Veterinary Hospital was in a pitiable state since the last 56 years and desperately needed renovation. At the initial stage, 32 bighas of land was allotted, though it has reportedly been encroached. The MLA assured to build the boundary wall of the hospital. The hospital will cover 104 villages and 45,000 cattleheads will be benefited after completion of the project. The initiative taken by the MLA was hailed by the people of the area.
