SHILLONG, Jan 12 - Supreme Court on Friday directed the Meghalaya Government to continue the rescue operations at Ksan rat-hole coal mines stating that “miracles do happen.”
The Court further directed the State Government to consult experts in its rescue operations. It further sought information from the Government what action it has taken against person(s) operating illegal coal mines.
On its part, the State Government informed that 28 lakh litres of water from the main shaft has so far been pumped out of the mine shaft since the operations began on December 13 last.
Five Remotely Operated Vehicles have also been deployed by the Indian Navy, the Court was informed.
