GUWAHATI, Jan 12 - Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) edged past host NorthEast United FC by the barest of margin in the Indian Super League at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium here today.
After a barren first session Portuguese striker Zequinha netted the match winning goal in the 73rd minute.
The Kolkata outfit enjoyed distinct domination in the match with better team effort and virtually kept the opponent under pressure throughout the course.
ATK had 62 percent ball possession and had more attack on the opponent goal. However, their attackers failed to hit the target despite cruising through to the striking zone quite frequently.
In the later part of the match both teams used their muscles and as a result two players of each team were cautioned.
After winning this match the Kolkata team jumped to the 6th position of the 10-team championship with 12 points from nine matches.
On the otherhand the highlanders had to stay at the 9th position with seven points from nine outings.
Bengaluru FC is leading the table with 18 points from nine matches while Chennaiyin FC is at second spot with 17 points after the end of 9th round.
