AGARTALA, Jan 12 – Hurdles continue to haunt Manarchak power plant in Sonamura subdivision in Tripura with the ONGC failing to supply gas as promised by the oil giant to the plant by December 31.
After failing to keep its words, ONGC Project Manager Nibir Deb has given a fresh promise to supply gas to Manarchak plant within next three to four days triggering doubts among officials of NEEPCO which built the plant.
On Saturday, the ONGC informed it would supply gas to Manarchak plant by January 14 with the executing agency working on war footing for commissioning of the project.
In the past few months, the ONGC has given so many dates to begin supplying gas but it could not keep its words till the date, sources said.
According to experts, the 545-metre gas pipe line, which is supposed to be laid on the Gomati river bed will take at least five more days. After laying the gas pipeline, necessary tests – air compressing, hydro test and pegging operation need to be done which would require at least one week.
Besides, Khedabari Gas Gathering Station (GGS) has not been built fully to take the gas to NEECPO’s Manarchak plant. The ONGC is working on the 10 km pipeline for the past three years but could not complete the project yet.
