Kamrupi dhulias, Karbi artiste feted


 
 GUWAHATI, Jan 12 – Hengul Haital, a socio-cultural organization of Guwahati, in collaboration with AFNA (Assam Foundation of North America) organised a felicitation programme at the District Library auditorium here recently to honour a group of ten artistes of the famed Kamrupi Dhulia of Nalbari district and noted Karbi artiste Dhireswar Ronghang.

A fifteen-member Dhuliya team, along with the honourees, captivated an urban audience with their wit, humour and spellbinding acrobatics associated with the Dhuliya tradition. There were also performances from Hengul Haital Nrityagosthi and a troupe directed by Ronghang.

The event was attended by the presence of artiste Loknath Goswami, lawyer Satyen Sarma, writer of children’s literature Jugal Lochan Das and Binoy Bordoloi, among others.

The programmes of the evening were anchored by Deepankar Kaushik, sub-editor of Dainik Asom.
