|Workshop on financial inclusion held at Sonapur|
GUWAHATI, Jan 11 - In sync with the objective of taking financial inclusion to the interior areas, the Indian Chamber of Commerce, (ICC), in association with the North Eastern Council, today organised a workshop on financial inclusion at Sonapur, Kamrup Metro district.
Welcoming the resource persons and participants, Ishantor Sobhapandit, Regional Director, ICC, spoke about the main purpose of the workshop, which is to impart know-how about the advantages of maintaining a bank account and financial relation with bank and ways through which it can be beneficial to the vulnerable and rural masses.
CK Das, Member of NEC, Ministry of DoNER, in his address, stressed the need to create more awareness in terms of financial communication with bank among the people in rural areas.
He further laid emphasis on piggery, fishery, poultry, agriculture and tourism-related activities in the areas around Sonapur. He interacted with the gathering on the issues.
Dr Dhrubajyoti Hazarika, Circle Officer, Sonapur, dwelt on the role of banks and financial organisations in facilitating financial inclusion of the rural masses.
Executive Director of RGVN, Amiya Kumar Sarma, and officials from NEDFi, United Bank of India, AGVN, also attended the workshop.
