Protest against Citizenship Bill

 TINSUKIA, Jan 10 - The students of Tinsukia Women’s College and Tinsukia Commerce College, took out a rally at Tinsukia today in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016. The rally began from Chaliha Nagar and roamed around the town through Devipukhuri road, GNB road, Chirapatty road, AT road and concluded at Thana Chariali. The rally saw participation of teachers, litterateurs, and journalists. They ( protesters) shouted slogans against the Prime Minister and Chief Minister for their role on the Citizenship Bill.

The Jatiya Mohila Parishad, a wing of the Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) also took out a rally today to register their protest against the Bill.

Doomdooma Correspondent adds: The Doomdooma College unit of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and the Doomdooma College Students' Union along with the students of the college today observed Black Day against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill , 2016. The students of the college burnt the copy of the Bill and burnt the effigies of the Prime Minister , Home Minister and Chief Minister . The students demanded the government withdrawal of the Bill as it is against the interest of the ethnic people of the State. The students of the college have also decided to boycott their classes from January 12.
