New Deputy Commissioners for Barak Valley districts

 SILCHAR, Jan 10 - In a massive administrative reshuffle, along with Deputy Commissioners of 31 districts of the state, the district heads of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi have also been transferred.

According to an order issued on January 8, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Lakshmanan has been transferred to Sivasagar. He is being replaced by Laya Madduri, the present Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh.

Dr Lakshmanan will replace Pallav Gopal Jha.

Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Pradip Kumar Talukdar will be replaced by PB Roy, ACS, who is at present the District Development Officer at Cachar.

Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan has been relocated to Bongaigaon. J Keerthi, will replace him.

Sharing her initial thoughts with The Assam Tribune on Wednesday, Madduri, a batch 2010 IAS officer said, “I am happy and looking forward to be in Barak Valley.”

On the other hand, outgoing Deputy Commissioner Dr Laxmanan who had joined the district in 2017 said, “It has been a great experience. I thank the people of Cachar for their trust and support.”
