GUWAHATI, Jan 10 - The Elite Group C Ranji Trophy match between Assam and Uttar Pradesh ended in a draw at Kanpur today.

In the second innings, Assam resuming at 102 for no loss, scored 317 for four at the end of the final day.

Former captain Gokul Sharma and Pallav Das remained unbeaten on 100 and 40 respectively. Gokul’s 100 was the only century cracked by an Assam batsman in this season.

The host team today used as many as 10 bowlers but the flat wicket did not help anyone. However, they removed Assam opener Rishav Das before adding any run to his overnight total of 37 while Rahul Hazarika could add seven before being out for 63. Sarupam Purkayastha scored 67 but skipper Amit Sinha was out for nought.

With this match Assam completed its campaign in this year’s Ranji Trophy. They stood at sixth position in the 10-team group with 21 points. Assam won three and lost four.
