|Resham Mela in Arunachal|
PASIGHAT, Jan 10 - The Central Silk Board (CSB) in collaboration with Arunachal Textile & Handicraft department organised a day-long ‘Resham Krishi Mela cum Exhibition’ at Sille Sericulture Farm in East Siang district on Wednesday.
Addressing the occasion, Assistant Director of Sericulture Opung Jamoh Dai asked farmers to take up sericulture on commercial basis. Scientists from Central Muga, Eri Research & Training Institute, Lahdoigarh (Assam), explained to the farmers on rearing and maintenance of silk works.
CSB has been implementing ‘Integrated Bivoltine Sericulture Development Project’ covering Mulberry project in East Siang district and about 700 acres has been brought under cultivation so far. There is a budgetary estimate of Rs 230 crore for Northeastern States, including Arunachal Pradesh to run a three-year sericulture project.
