|Veterans Day at IAF station on Jan 14|
GUWAHATI, Jan 9 - ‘Veterans Day’ will be celebrated at the IAF Station, Borjhar, on January 14. The day is celebrated as Veterans Day as a mark of respect, recognition and service rendered by Field Marshal KM Carriapa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, who retired on this day in 1953.
It is a unique initiative of the services to acknowledge and honour the selfless devotion and sacrifice by the veterans who have served the nation during their prime years and still continue to do so in various capacities.
The event at the IAF Station is being organized in conjunction with Army units assisted by the Rajya Sainik Board. The event will include a wreath-laying ceremony by serving personnel and veterans at the War Memorial, followed by talks by representatives of the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts, Directorate of Air Veterans, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Air Force Group Insurance Society and Director of Rajya Sainik Board. This would enable the veterans to get updated on new policies and matters related to pensions and other relevant aspects.
