Awards distributed under Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela

 JORHAT, Jan 9 - Letters of awards of Rs 2,500 each to tea workers for opening bank accounts post-demonetisation under State government’s Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela were handed over to 150 workers of Borbheta Field Experimental Tea Estate and Tocklai Field Experimental Tea Estate belonging to the Tocklai Tea Research Institute at a function held at the conference room of the TTRI on January 8.

 A press release issued by the TTRI stated that the sanctioned letters were distributed to workers under the Phase 1 of the scheme. Dr Paran Baruah, retired senior scientist of the CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, representing Jorhat MLA and Speaker of the Assam Assembly Hitendra Nath Goswami, presided over the function. The function was attended by several government and bank officials.

Administrative Controller of the Tea Research Association B Chakravarty delivered the welcome address. Nearly 150 workers of both the gardens under TTRI attended the function, the release said. Dr AK Barooah, Director, TRA, also spoke on the occasion.
