NCHAC, APGCL sign MoU for hydro electric project

 HAFLONG, Jan 9 - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Mukut Kemprai, Principal Secretary (N) and Antara Baruah, Chief General Manager (Hydro & Civil, APGCL) in presence of Debolal Gorlosa, CEM and executive members of NC Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong, Kalyani Baruah, Managing Director, APGCL, R Das, Project Director, APGCL, Utpal Dutta, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), APGCL and others on Monday. The purpose of signing the MoU is to establish a 120 MW Lower Kopili Hydro Electric Project at Longkhu, Dima Hasao.

At the very outset, R Das, Project Director, APGCL felicitated Debolal Gorlosa, CEM and executive members of NCHAC, Haflong with phulam gamosa and sorai. A land allotment letter was handed over to Kalyani Baruah, Managing Director, APGCL by Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC.

The total land allotted was 6800 bighas, for which Rs 50,000 per bigha per annum will be given to NC Hills Autonomous Council as rent. It has also been learnt that after completion of the hydroelectric project, 5 per cent of the income from the generated power shall be paid to NC Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong by APGCL. Debolal Gorlosa, CEM and Executive Members of his council felt that it was a step towards enhancing the financial self dependency of the NCHAC. The programme was also attended by Ranu Langthasa, Chairperson, NCHAC, Haflong, Saindesh Ardao, Secretary, Revenue Department NCHAC, officers and staff of NCHAC and APGCL.
