Vety, dairy pensioners’ body annual meet

 GUWAHATI, Jan 9 - The 18th annual general meeting of the Veterinary and Dairy Pensioners’ Forum Assam was held on January 7 in the auditorium of College of Veterinary Science (CVSc), Khanapara with Prof DK Lahan in the chair, said a press release today.

 Bhaskar Baruah, former Cabinet Secretary, Govt of India and Dr RN Goswami, dean, CVSc attended the meeting as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Baruah, while releasing the 14th issue of the Forum’s annual mouthpiece Udayan, appreciated the endeavour of the Forum to take up various welfare programmes for livestock, benefiting the rural population of the State.

Baruah also released a book Alipub Gayor Ajogor written by member of the Forum Dr RN Deka. Dr Goswami released the 6th revised edition of the directory of the Forum. He reminded the retired veterinaries of their responsibility towards development of animal husbandry in the State.

Earlier, Forum general secretary Dr PK Goswami placed the annual report of the organisation. The Forum felicitated a few of its octogenarian members on the occasion.

A new 21-member committee for the next session was formed with Dr BK Konwar as president, Dr Bhaskar Phukan as working president, Dr PK Goswami as vice-president and Dr Kanakeswar Bordoloi as general secretary.

Prof DK Lahan requested the members to remain united and actively participate in making the Forum strong and viable in the days to come.
