Mizoram MP faces protests on arrival in State
Correspondent
AIZAWL, Jan 7 - Mizoram’s lone Lok Sabha member, C Lalrosanga, today arrived at the Lengpui Airport here amid protests by hundreds of students led by the Mizo Zirlai Pawl, the State’s apex student body.

The student protesters greeted Lalrosanga with the pawndum, the traditional mourning cloth of the Mizos, to express their resentment against his support for the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill during the recent Winter Session of the Parliament. They also shouted slogans and held anti-CAB/CAA placards.

On the other hand, Mizo National Front (MNF) workers accorded a hero’s welcome to their MP on his arrival at the airport. The Mizoram Government had made tight security arrangements in view of the protest by the MZP. A huge contingent of police personnel, armed with anti-riot gear, were deployed on the airport premises.
