NSCN-K hands over two accused to police
 DIMAPUR, Jan 7 – The NSCN-K on Thursday reiterated that they will not let any individual tarnish the image of the Naga nation for greed or personal gratification as they handed over two accused involved in the abduction of Dimapur-based businessman Hariram Gupta to the State Police.

The handing over took place at Khehoi village, some two kilometres away from Khehoi designated camp of the NSCN-K. The duo was handed over to the police in the presence of mediapersons along with some seized items and a car which they had reportedly used while committing the crime.

Present at the handing and taking over were Vikheto Kiba, secretary of NSCN-K, Kakheho Chopy, home secretary and Gideon V Zhimomi, secretary to CFSB while the State Police team included State Additional SP Watichuchang and Dimapur SDPO Shouka with EAC and GBs.

One of the accused, Jacob, Alias Sevitao (aged 44), a Tatar (member of parliament) in the NSCN-K, son of Viotao, hailing from Sorbung Village under Senapati district, Manipur, was terminated from service on January 3 after the outfit established his involvement in the kidnapping case.

The other, identified as ‘ss’ Sergeant Romio Poumai, son of Shiura Poumai (aged 33) and hailing from Khungdi village under Senapati district, Manipur, was also arrested along with Jacob, is said to have confessed to his direct involvement in the November 25 abduction of Hariram Gupta.

According to NSCN-K, Romio Poumai had joined NSCN-IM in 2003 and claimed to have joined NSCN–K in 2008. However, upon checking the official documents, there is no record of him joining the Naga Army, it informed, adding that he has no army number or assigned unit. The NSCN-K said he is a regular criminal tarnishing the image of the Naga Army.

Talking to mediapersons, the NSCN-K officials declared that they would not let allow any official, whether civil or military in nexus with outsiders, destroy the Naga Nation for greed and personal gratification. They said that the accused have been handed over to the Indian authorities as there is a ceasefire with the Government of India.
