Surgical camp for locomotor disabilities

 GUWAHATI, Jan 6 - Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, based in Cuttack, Odisha, along with Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Guwahati, and Excelcare Hospitals is organising a surgical camp for children with locomotor disabilities (Divyangjan) from January 7 to 16.

A total of 30 children will be treated free of cost by doctors from the Institute at the camp to be conducted at Excelcare Hospitals. The children are from different districts of Assam. The youngest is an 18-month-old girl child.

Union Minister of Social Justice Dr Thaawarchand Gehlot will visit the camp on January 10. He will be accompanied by Shakuntala D Gamblin, Secretary, Dept of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and Dolly Chakrabarty, Joint Secretary. The entire cost of the camp, including hospital and medicine expenses, will be borne by CRC.
