ULFA c-in-c speaks to Karimganj MLA |
SILCHAR, Jan 6 - Even as crores of people across Assam, including a large chunk of Bengali-speaking population in Barak Valley have missed out on the first partial draft list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) which got published on the midnight of December 31 last, there has been a lot of buzz following inclusion of the name of Paresh Baruah, the elusive commander-in-chief of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).
In this backdrop, the telephonic talk between the ULFA chief and Congress MLA from North Karimganj Kamalakshya Dey Purkayastha has triggered much inquisitiveness among the people. According to Kamalakshya, “the ULFA chief called on Friday by using three different numbers and asked me to refrain from speaking against the Ahoms in the ongoing process of NRC verification and updation. He spoke to me for 20 minutes.”
Kamalakshya informed that he has intimated the matter to police. When contacted, Karimganj SP Gaurav Upadhyay on Saturday said that based on the intimation, they are looking into the matter with priority.
