Jorhat DC allays people’s apprehension
JORHAT, Jan 6 - Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal urged people whose names have been published with spelling mistakes or incorrect addresses in the part draft of NRC not to worry as there will be adequate provision to approach the NRC authorities via respective NSKs in order to correct the same.

Addressing mediapersons here recently, Mittal while thanking the citizens and officials involved in the NRC update process for their cooperation, said that the administration has come to know about mistakes occurring in the names of some people among the names published.

The DC said that there was no need to worry about such mistakes as the same could be corrected in due course after notification for corrections is announced.

He said that in Jorhat district, 87 per cent names of the total people who had applied for NRC update have been published in the part draft list.

Stating that his name too, like many other people, has not come out in the NRC part draft list, Miittal said that there was no need to worry as verification of documents were pending in such cases, and will be completed later on.

The DC said the final NRC draft will be published at a later date which the State NRC coordinator will announce.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jayanta Goswami, who is the nodal officer for NRC, was also present at the press conference.
