Morigaon admin bans plying of e-rickshaws on busy roads
CORRESPONDENT
MORIGAON, Jan 6 - Apprehending breach of peace and order due to the plying of e-rickshaws and e-carts on the main roads of Morigaon town, the Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon on Friday issued a prohibitory order with respect to the plying of e-rickshaws and e-carts on the busy roads of the town.

The prohibitory order will apply to the Jagiroad-Morigaon Road (St Teresa point to main town), Nagaon-Morigaon Road (Civil Hospital Road to main town), Lahorighat-Morigaon Road (Motiram Bora Road) and Damal-Dharamtul-Morigaon Road (Usha Chariali to main town).

The order was issued after several discussions with the Superintendent of Police, Morigaon, the Municipal Board, local MLA and several other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, several senior citizens here have expressed satisfaction over the order, stating that several accidents occurred in Morigaon town due to the plying of unauthorised e-rickshaws. Moreover, those e-rickshaws have no valid licences from the Transport Department.
