GUWAHATI, Jan 6 - The diamond jubilee celebration and yearly best Medical and Pharmacy graduate event of the Assam Pharmaceutical Association (APA) were held at Hotel Lily here with a daylong programme on January 5, said a press release today.
On the occasion a talk on GST and its impact on the pharma trade was addressed by All India Organisation of Chemist and Druggist (AIOCD) president and Member of Legislative Council, Maharashtra JS Shinde; general secretary Rajiv Singal and joint secretary V Jagusthe.
On the occasion felicitation was accorded to the guests, Best Medical graduate Dr Debarun Sharma and Best Pharmacy graduate Himangshu Sarma.
The event was addressed by Dipak Kr Barthakur Vice Chairman, State Innovative and Transformation Aayog (SITA); Dr Anup Kr Barman, Director Medical Education, Assam; Dr Hitesh Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU); AIOCD president Shinde and KB Choudhury from Lupin Ltd.
APA president Prafulla Sarmah in his address called upon the State government to create a better industrial environment and infrastructure so that more pharmaceutical units can be set up and existing units like Sun Pharma, Akums, Hetero, Ajanta and Natco remain viable. SITA VC Barthakur assured that he would take up the matter with the government.
The event was also attended by Dr Joydev Sarma, Vice Principal, Gauhati Medical College; noted economist Ananta Kalita; Rupam Goswami, chairman Assam Gas Company; Maminul Awal, Chairman Minority Board; B Baruah, chairman Assam Petro Chemical; noted social activist Khanin Das; Ashim Nath, Joint Drug Controller, Assam and a number of leaders from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur chemist and druggist associations.
