Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Jan 5 - As part of the nationwide initiative, the State BJP on Sunday started a 10-day mass awareness drive to mobilise support for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

In Assam, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan began the mass awareness programme by meeting a large number of people in the city.

“As the part of this awareness drive, he met Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi. He discussed the pros and cons of the CAA and tried to know their views. He also met 85-year-old Dr Ashwini Das and 94-year-old Hari Chandra Das at their residences here. Shivraj Singh Chouhan was accompanied by State BJP vice president Vijay Gupta and Bimal Oswal, organising secretary Phanindra Nath Sarma and others,” a statement said.

As part of the programme, the BJP has launched a toll-free number 8866288662 for people to give missed calls to register their endorsement to the law.
