Assam to play Services from today
Sports Reporter
GUWAHATI, Jan 4 – Assam will host Services in the Ranji Trophy Group C match at the Barsapara stadium here from tomorrow. It will be the fifth match for the visiting team while the host will play its fourth. However, Assam is in better position with eight points and placed at the fourth spot while Services is at eighth position in the table with five points.

But considering the performances of the players, Services may turn table on Assam in this match. Batsmen like Deepak Punia, Sourabh Kumar, Soumik Chatterjee, Rajat Paliwal, Yaspal Singh are in nice form with heavy runs this season in their kitties.

However their bowling force is not that much satisfactory. Medium pacers Suraj Yadav and Roshan Raj, all rounders Deepak and Sourabh Kumar have been able to draw attention by grabbing some wickets.

The armymen have already played some tough matches against Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad along with Tripura and gained some vital match practices.

On the other hand Assam so far played all the three matches on the home ground but failed to take the advantage. Barring the match against Tripura, Assam performed poorly against Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Assam players, both batsmen and bowlers, are yet to hit form through which they can record victory. Medium pacer Krishna Das has been the only bowler who had a match winning show in the first match against Tripura. No Assam batsman is yet to score a ton in last three matches.
