|Yaba tablets seized in Tripura|
AGARTALA, Jan 3 - In a major drive against the narcotics syndicate, personnel of the BSF and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Agartala, seized a big haul of yaba tablets on Thursday. As many as 1,68,500 yaba tablets worth Rs 8.52 crore were seized from a house in West Tripura district.
Acting on Intelligence inputs, a joint team of BSF troops and DRI officials raided the house of one Tunu Miah at Matinagar village in West Tripura district. However, the occupants of the house managed to escape under the cover of darkness. After a thorough search of the house in the presence of two independent witnesses, two cartons and a polythene bag containing the yaba tablets were found.
The cartons and the polythene bag were opened, leading to recovery and seizure of 1,68,500 yaba tablets worth Rs 8.52 crore, said a senior BSF officer here today. Two Maruti cars, which were being used for transportation of the drugs, were also impounded.
The seized items were handed over to the DRI, Agartala, for further legal action. No arrest has been made so far.
