Sister Nivedita remembered

 GUWAHATI, Jan 3 - In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Sister Nivedita, a lecture programme was arranged at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati recently.

The programme began with Vedic chanting by the monastic members of the Ashrama. The welcome address was delivered by Swami Atmashuddhananda Maharaj, the secretary of the Ashrama. Swami Devarajanandaji Maharaj spoke on Sister Nivedita and her relationship with Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, the divine spouse of Sri Ramakrishna. This was stated in a press release.

Swami Atmanishthanandaji Maharaj, secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Smriti Mandir, Khetri spoke on the ‘Life and Teachings of Sister Nivedita’ and how these are relevant to the present world.

Revered Swami Bainbhadranandaji Maharaj, the assistant general secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, released a book in Assamese language named Bhagini Nivedita published from Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Sri Manmath Deka, vice-president of the managing committee of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati. The programme concluded with a closing song by Subhrendu Kumar Das. About 300 devotees, well-wishers and admirers attended the programme.
