GUWAHATI, Jan 3 - The third phase of Gunotsav, a quality enhancement initiative for bringing about improvement in learning level of students at elementary level began in the State today.
The last phase of the exercise will cover 13 districts – Baksa, Biswanath, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hojai, Karimganj, Majuli, Nalbari, Sonitpur and South Salmara-Mankachar.
A total of 12,37,922 students in 12,883 schools in these districts would be covered in the third phase of the exercise. With 2,241 schools, Dhubri has the highest number of institutions among the districts to be covered under in the third phase.
The government has roped in 6,137 external evaluators, besides 1,607 liaison officers and 17,883 nodal teachers who would participate in the third phase of the exercise that would continue till January 6.
“Like in the past, I request my colleagues to join in large numbers and make it a great success yet again... Encourage all to participate with enthusiasm and make it a success,” Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Taking part in Gunotsav Phase-III, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the No. 2 Sadar LP School in Majuli district today and took stock of the internal evaluation done by the teachers and inspected the infrastructure as well as cleanliness of the school.
The results of the assessment are likely to take about a month’s time.
