Sivasagar DC launches new initiative to welcome students

 SIVASAGAR, Jan 2 - Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner MS Lakshmi Priya launched a new initiative, ‘Praveshotsav – the Utsav Vidyarambha’ on the first day of the new year to welcome students of the district into the new academic year.

 The Deputy Commissioner ceremoniously began the initiative from Lakhimi Nagar Middle English School in Sivasagar. She welcomed the students to their respective classes and extended warm wishes to the teachers, students and parents for the New Year.

She encouraged the students to study hard in order to excel in life, and also suggested to the teachers and parents to give the students proper guidance for a better future.

The Deputy Commissioner exhorted the students to take active part in sports and extracurricular activities for their all-round growth and development. Later, she also distributed free textbooks among the students. The students perform various cultural items during the programme.

The Deputy Commissioner also attended Praveshotsav programmes at other schools including Lakshminath Bezbaroa Sishu Bhawan, No.1 Amguri Primary School, Rudra Sagar Primary School and Mogorhaat Gyan Vikash High School.

Under the initiative, all schools in the district extended their students a grand welcome. Other activities carried out under the initiative were hoisting of the school flags, ribbon-cutting and entering the classrooms, sweets distribution, textbooks distribution, etc.

The programmes were organised by the respective school management committees and the local community to encourage children to move ahead in life by embracing the right kind of education.
