Laxminath Phukan award to Bhagawati

 NAGAON, Jan 2 – The Laxminath Phukan Journalism Award, instituted by Asam Sahitya Sabha, was formally handed over to veteran journalist and Editor of Dainik Asam Radhikamohan Bhagawati at a function held here on Tuesday.

In his award acceptance speech, Bhagawati observed that present-day journalism is progressing professionally and industrially but it some times deviates from the ideals set by Laxninath Phukan and others. However, the values are not totally lost and that is why a relation was established between profession and mission, he added

Editor Bhagawati further said that at present journalism is passing through a critical stage but it must keep on progressing.

Earlier, the function was formally inaugurated by Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha president Dr Naren Kalita.

The award comprises an angabastra,citation, a memento, a bundle of books and a cash amount of Rs ten thousand.
