74pc polling in Algapur bypoll
 HAILAKANDI, Feb 24, – The bypoll in Algapur LAC of Hailakandi district today passed off peacefully. As per official information the percentage of poll is 73.82. An agent of an independent candidate, Baharul Islam was arrested from 184 Barnagad LP School by CRPF personnel when he was trying to cast false vote but was later released. In another incident at Nitainagar Maktab LP School, trouble took place when supporters of a particular candidate quarrel led with 140 voters. Later police controlled the situation.

The DC Dr J Balaji thanked the people for maintaining peace during the bypoll. Heavy security arrangements were made by the administration in the 170 booths. Of these, 75 and 41 booths were identified as hypersensitive and sensitive respectively. Video cameras were fixed in 25 booths while micro observers were posted in 90 booths.
